Austin High Mountain Biking Ranks Top 5 in Texas

The Maroons Mountain Biking team is currently torching the trails, holding a commanding 2nd place in the South Division and an elite 4th place overall in the State of Texas. In a high-stakes battle for regional supremacy, the Maroons are locked in a dead heat with Lake Travis and have built a massive lead over Westlake and other powerhouse programs across the South.

The 2026 campaign is being anchored by a dominant group of female riders who are currently sweeping the state rankings. Sophomore Ellie Williams (Varsity), freshman Sally Moore (JV1), and 7th-grade standout Maddie Williams—who is already winning at the high school level—are all currently ranked #1 in Texas. This elite core is supported by a deep roster of talent, including five additional Maroons who are currently ranked in the Top 10 of their respective divisions.

Like a handful of sports at Austin High, Mountain Biking is a club program outside of the UIL. This unique status creates a massive opportunity for our community as every current and future Maroon is eligible to participate. Whether you are a seasoned rider or a middle schooler looking to join this fun, amazingly talented team, there is a spot for you. It is a true “Loyal Forever” pipeline that starts early and competes at the highest professional-grade level.

The season is structured as a high-intensity race series where every second counts toward the overall standings. Athletes compete in multiple events across the state, earning individual points based on their finishing positions. Those points are then aggregated to determine both individual rankings and the overall team score. It is a grueling test of endurance and skill that rewards consistency, and right now, nobody is more consistent than the Maroons. Good luck to Maroons Mountain Biking as they continue their trek towards winning state.
