By every objective metric—postseason depth, individual state appearances, fundraising milestones, and facility upgrades—the 2025–2026 academic year stands alone as a dominant chapter in the history of Austin High School athletics. With over 600 student-athletes taking the field, court, and track, the Maroons didn’t just compete this year; Austin High programs set a new benchmark for what excellence looks like.
Austin High with Historic Postseason Success
Our programs completely rewrote the record books this year, putting together an unprecedented collective surge into the Texas playoffs. A record number of Maroon programs simultaneously punched their tickets to the postseason, extending our competitive footprint deep into the state brackets.
The headline of the year belonged to the Lady Maroons Volleyball team. Following the exact blueprint of grit and execution laid down by our boys lacrosse team’s historic run a year ago, the volleyball team tore through a postseason gauntlet to the 6A UIL State Championship game in Garland.
The depth of our athletic talent showed out across the board:
- Playoff Teams: Volleyball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Softball, Girls Lacrosse, and Girls Soccer all dominated regular-season play to secure hard-fought playoff berths in highly competitive districts.
- Postseason Success: The Maroons Cheer team advanced all the way to Nationals, proving their elite execution handles the biggest stages. Meanwhile, the Mountain Biking team asserted its absolute dominance, finishing at the top of the state of Texas.
Maroons Athletes Dominated at the Highest Level
Beyond team accomplishments, Maroons individual excellence took center stage at the apex of Texas high school sports.
On the track, our elite speed was on full display as two standout Maroons Track athletes advanced straight through grueling regional qualifiers to compete at the 6A UIL State Track and Field meet. On the golf course, the Maroons sent an individual boys Golfer to battle the absolute best in Texas at the 6A UIL State Golf Tournament.
Crucially, the relentless work put into our offseason training programs translated directly into next-level opportunities. This year, over a dozen Austin High senior athletes signed their official letters of intent to continue playing their sports at the college level, proving that Maroon talent is built to scale.
Transforming Austin High with Elite Facilities
This year, we added amazing new facilities at Austin High School, officially opening two premier facilities that alter the landscape of our programs:
- Maroons Stadium: Our brand-new, on-campus turf field and track officially opened. Shifting the dynamic of how our field teams practice and play as a permanent asset for our outdoor programs.
- The Ben Crenshaw Golf Academy: Opening its doors to our Maroons & Lady Maroons golf teams this year, this premier indoor teaching facility equips our golf programs with cutting-edge simulator and putting technology. Being located right here on campus, ensures our players train with the absolute best resources available.
Uncompromising Leadership and Community Power
Powerhouse eras are defined by the people driving them. This past year, we solidified our athletic department’s future under the guidance of Campus Coordinator and Head Football Coach Cecil, who brought an aggressive vision and a standard of accountability in his stellar first year. Working alongside him to elevate our operational efficiency was Associate AD Coach Lozano, Athletic Department Administrator Ellie Brooks, and our incredible new full-time training staff, Christine and Natalie, who kept our 600+ athletes healthy, recovered, and performing at peak capacity.
While the scoreboards and trophies tell the public story, the true measure of this New Era is found in the classroom. Austin High athletes proved day in and day out that execution on the field goes hand-in-hand with academic focus, bringing home more Academic All-District and All-State honors this year than any other era can count.
None of this historic momentum happens by accident. The Maroons community stepped up off the field in a massive way, raising record-breaking funds through the Maroons Club, parent booster groups, and local sponsors to fully equip our teams, replace aging gear, and fund essential upgrades across all sports.
To the teachers, coaches, trainers, administrative staff, parent boosters, sponsors, and every single athlete who poured their heart, sweat, and hours into this season: thank you for delivering an unforgettable year.
The foundation is built at Austin High, and we are just getting started.
Loyal Forever.
