For Austin High Maroons football the upcoming season is full of promise. The team heads into season 2 under Head Coach Jason Cecil with a veteran foundation and a solid team top to bottom. With Offensive Coordinator Jon Brooks orchestrating the offense and DC Rocky Clark commanding the defense, the coaching continuity is set to pay dividends as Austin High tackles a reshaped district. While AHS is still in the 26-6A district, the path to the postseason looks different this year. The Maroons welcome Hays and Buda Johnson to the district schedule, while maintaining games against Akins, Bowie, Del Valle and Dripping Springs.
The roster is primed for the challenge, returning a deep core of play makers who have spent the last year mastering the system. On offense, both quarterbacks return with valuable starting experience, ready to air it out to star wideout Brady Ford. The Maroons defense is led by linebacker Ethan Kahle, returns to the middle of the field, providing the veteran leadership and physical presence needed to anchor the defensive front 7.
In a huge shift for Austin High, the JV and Freshman home games will now be played on campus at the new Maroons Stadium. This move brings the energy of game day directly to our campus. It gives AHS athletes the chance to defend their own turf and there is nothing quite like the atmosphere of on-campus football. The team can’t wait to see Austin High’s “Loyal Forever” community fill the stands to support the future of the program. Whether it’s a Thursday night on campus or a Friday night under the lights at House Park, the 2026 season promises to be a thriller. Check out the full schedule below and get ready to back the Maroons.
