Coach Cecil and Coach Lozano share their thoughts on the upcoming 2025-2026 athletic year. Read full version of their letter below.

To Our Maroons Athletes, Students, Parents, Teachers, Coaches, and Community,        

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! It’s the start of an exciting new era for Austin High athletics, and the energy on campus is electric. We have a unique opportunity to build on our rich 144-year history and elevate Maroons athletics to new heights. Our theme is “Stronger Together, Loyal Forever,” which captures the spirit we want to embody as a family committed to excellence—in competition and in life.

The strength of our Austin High programs comes from our amazing Maroons community. We want to see participation numbers grow in all programs, so we encourage every Austin High student to get involved, whether as an athlete, a manager, or a dedicated fan. To our families, your engagement and support are invaluable, we can’t do this without you.

While winning is always a goal, our primary focus is on developing our student-athletes into great people, teammates, and leaders. This means prioritizing their success in the classroom first and foremost. Our coaches are educators dedicated to mentoring our athletes in their academics and life pursuits. We want them to be successful in their sport but also ensure they understand what it means to be a contributing member of our community.

We believe that being an Austin High athlete means living out a specific set of values:

We look forward to seeing everyone in our Maroons community this year cheering on our student-athletes, band, cheerleaders, Red Jackets, and coaches as they represent Austin High with pride. Together, let’s make this a year to remember.
